Jeremy Zawodny: "the lowest common denominator across SQL databases is pretty damned low." Over the years, I've preached the gospel of writing portable SQL, but Jeremy's given me something to think about. After I read this, I poked around in the source code for Slashdot, and their solution is to factor dialect-specific SQL into separate Slash::DB::MySQL and Slash::DB::PostgreSQL modules. That makes sense to me.
