Geek Out Old School-style

The New England Wireless and
Steam Museum
is holding their Original
Yankee Steam-Up
this weekend. I’ve only been once, but it’s a lot of
fun. As far as I know, they have the wireless part of the museum open
as well during the Steam-Up.

East Coast (Southern New England) Geek Dinner

Thursday, March 11th, 2004

Rory and I have
been planning a nerd/geek dinner for this coming Friday (March 12) at
6:30pm. We’ve settled on the Providence Place Mall food court, and you’re all
invited. Apologies for the short notice, and we promise advance warning
next time!

Update: A couple people have asked me why we’d choose the
Providence Place Mall food court. I’ve been to one of the Scoble-organized geek dinners at a food court, and it works
great for a number of reasons:

  • No need for head count (scales really well)
  • People can come whenever they want
  • People can leave whenever they want (no waiting around for the check)
  • Not a problem for out-of-work geeks
  • People don’t feel that they have to eat; they can just get a coffee
  • The center of attention is people, not food.
