Parallels is driving me nuts. If I try to run Vista, it maxes out the CPU constantly, even in the background. In contrast, I’ve had two VMware Fusion VMs (Vista and XP) running in the background all morning, and I forgot they were there.

I wonder why your having issues? I have Paralells and use it for Vista as well and am having 0 issues. My laptop does have 3 gigs of ram in it and a nice CPU so maybe that is why.
Try uninstalling the whole thing and start the process over. Maybe the install got hosed.
