As soon as I
was sure I had EDGE speeds in 02881, I snagged a GC82
EDGE card on eBay for around $50. It arrived today, and I’ve told
the story of its setup in
pictures.

Kicking up my T-Mobile EDGE
Friday, October 21st, 2005Cool… T-Mobile Turned on EDGE in South County
Wednesday, October 19th, 2005I bought a Nokia 6200 a while ago so I could periodically test for EDGE
speeds, and I guess I got lazy… I kept using the phone’s WAP browser to
test with DSL Reports’ mobile
speed test, and kept getting GPRS speeds. So I decided to tether and
test today, and I got great speeds from my home. All tests were with
compressed binary data, all speeds in kilobytes/second as reported by
wget:
| Size | Test 1 | Test 2 | Test 3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 64k | 9.56 | 8.19 | 7.66 |
| 256k | 6.87 | 8.81 | 5.87 |
| 512k | 7.54 | 13.13 | 12.36 |
Vatican Astronomer on Extra Terrestrials

Boing: “According the Independent Catholic News, the book, published
by the Catholic Truth Society, raises such questions as:
…
- Is Jesus Christ’s redemption valid for intelligent
beings throughout the universe? - or would other worlds have their own version of
Jesus?…”
Philip K. Dick had a little bit of twisted fun with those two questions in
Rautavaara’s
Case.
