500kbps in San Diego
Bugwart
points to a report from Deutsche Bank on the 1xEV-DO rollout in San
Diego (thanks to Emory for
calling my attention to this). The report touches on a number of things
3G, and is well worth a read. I even printed out a copy, and I hardly
every print anything. Here’s a delightful quote from the report:
Using FTP to receive megabyte files, we recorded
average data rates that were typically in the 500-800kbps range
while observing peak data rates (done using the aforementioned
software package on the Windows 2000 notebook) that reached 1.2Mbps.
Meanwhile, Alan Reiter discusses
the Verizon 1xEV-DO press release that complements the Deutsche Bank
report.
P.S. San Diego will be home to next year’s Emerging Technology
conference, so start stocking up on 1xEV-DO equipment today!
